Student Orientation: View Coursework

Connect 4 Education courses consist of textual content pages and various types of coursework or assignments.

You may access your coursework through various areas of the course at any time by using the Course Navigation menu.

View Coursework

For additional information on how to access your coursework from each of these course functions, please refer to the corresponding sections below.

Assignments

The term 'Assignments' refers to all coursework within your course. The assignments included in your course can consist of Written Assignments, Quizzes, Exams, and/or Discussions. Your instructor may add other types of assignments, such as Extra-Credit or Group Assignments. The Assignments page within your course will display all of the Assignments (graded and/or non-graded) that will be expected of you and how many points each is worth.

Upon entering the Assignments page, assignments will be displayed in a list format. If your instructor has implented due dates, then due dates will be displayed and assignments will be listed in ascending chronological order.

You also have the option to display Assignments by Type (i.e. Written Assignments, Quizzes, Exams, etc.) [1] or to access your personal gradebook and view your current grade based on your completed coursework [2]. To utilize these options, simply click the associated button in the Sidebar.

Grades

Accessing your personal gradebook from the Grades link on the Course Navigation menu will allow you to view all of the Assignments (graded and/or non-graded) that will be expected of you, when each assignment is due, any scores you have received (grades will populate as you complete courswork), how many points each is worth, and any instructor comments that have been entered, etc.

Syllabus

The Syllabus link on the Course Navigation menu communicates what will be required of you throughout the course in chronological order.

From within the Syllabus page, you can view a list of all of the Assignments (graded and/or non-graded) that will be expected of you and their corresponding due dates (if due dates have been set by your insturctor). There are three main sections of the Syllabus page:

Syllabus List

  1. Syllabus Description: Instructors may provide a description, brief introduction, class guidelines, important information, etc. regarding the course, if desired.
  2. Syllabus Table: Any course assignment or event will be listed in the bottom half of the Syllabus page with the undated items appearing at the bottom.
  3. Calendar and Weighted Assignment Groups: The Calendar and Weighted Assignment Groups section will display information regarding course events and grading.

Quizzes

Quizzes are assignments that are used to challenge your understanding and assess your comprehension of course material.

Accessing the Quizzes link on the Course Navigation menu will only allow you to view the quizzzes and exams within your course. This page will not reflect any other assignment types required for your course (i.e. Written Assignments, Discussions). The Quiz Index page displays a list of the quizzes/exams within your course, any due dates and time limits, and quiz/exam details.

Quiz List

  1. Lock Icon: Displays to the left of the quiz/exam title, if the quiz/exam is no longer available based on availability dates. For additional information on the due dates and availability dates for your assignments, please refer to the Understand Due Dates help page.
  2. Due Dates & Time Limits: Display below the quiz/exam title, if they have been set by your instructor.
  3. Quiz Details: Listed to the right of the quiz/exam title. Details include the number of points each quiz is worth and the number of questions asked in each quiz/exam.

Modules

Modules are used to organize and group related areas of course content. By default, the Home page is the same as the Modules page, but your instructor does have the ability to change the Home Page layout.

When the Modules link is accessed from the Course Navigation menu, you will see the full course sequence. You can select the specific assignment you would like to access within each module by clicking on it [1]. From the Modules page, you will also be able to see if a due date has been implemented [2] and the number of points the assignment is worth [3].
